Overnight: Blue Bell Hotel, Belford

Great welcome from the team at the Blue Bell and local hero Anne Marie Trevelyan had generously dropped of some choc chip biscuits and soap--after a 21 mile hike the life expectancy of the biscuits was 0.007 seconds, the soap was good until the morning--well I am a bloke! The Blue Bell is a classic morning coffee place but has really worked on the accommodation renovating the stable block in order to accommodate coach parties and it has worked; they have had a great summer and bookings are still very strong. One thing which I really enjoyed about the Blue Bell was that it wasn't at all stuffy and in the evening guests congregated in the lounge for a quiz night--which raised funds for the RNLI--I showed my incredible knowledge by getting two answers right all evening: 'The Andrews Sisters' and 'Mt Kilimanjaro'--well they were tough questions. Anyway a great nights sleep and hearty breakfast and I was off with a £10 cash donation from Yvonne to help me on my way.
